CEO message to clients and stakeholders: COVID-19 situation

WEstjustice CEO Message To Clients and Stakeholders

These are challenging and difficult times for us all.

I’m proud to say my team at Westjustice has risen to the occasion and all staff are working hard to adjust to our current reality. We are still refining the logistical issues so we appreciate your patience.

Wellbeing and Safety

To ensure that we minimise the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) among our staff, clients, communities and partner programs we have asked our staff to work from home as of this week. Planning has been in place for the past few weeks to ensure that they have all of the relevant information and equipment they need.

We appreciate that this change may affect our services and we will do our best to minimise disruption.

Clinics, programs and practice areas

Our clinics and programs will continue to operate in a virtual manner (using telephone and video-conferencing facilities) but we may experience reduced capacity from time to time.

As of Monday 23 March 2020, clients will not have access to our offices. We have limited administrative staff on site and all other staff are working from home.

We are working with the courts and tribunals to determine the safest and most effective way to provide telephone and video conferencing and appearances.

Please contact our office directly on 03 9749 7720 to find out about how our various clinics and programs are running.

Funding agreements, targets and results

We are mindful of the impact that this unprecedented disruption will have on our funded projects and annual targets. We are doing all we can to remain on track. We will communicate with our funders and stakeholders throughout this period to manage expectations.

Business Continuity Planning

We have established a Westjustice Coronavirus Policy and Business Continuity Plan which will assist to guide us through this challenging time.

We acknowledge that many of our clients and communities will be significantly impacted by both the virus and the consequential impacts. Once we have secured a safe working environment for our staff, and established a viable and consistent remote working practice, we will turn our minds to ways we can best help people living in Melbourne’s West with the legal and financial issues that will inevitably arise from this public health emergency.

Westjustice Strategy 2020-2023

We have recently finalised our new strategy for 2020-23. This will guide us through this period and enable us to prioritise our services and resources.

These are sad and difficult times. However we are already witnessing moments of strength and kindness and this will assist us to manage the challenging times ahead.

On a personal note, I wish you, your colleagues and your families all the very best during this period.

Take care, we will be in touch soon.
